Pest Control Heathcote

GOPEST – A STEP ABOVE THE REST

Professional Pest Services in Heathcote from Go Pest

Go Pest Bendigo provide professional pest control services in Heathcote and throughout Central Victoria to homeowners and businesses.

We are fully licensed and insured to provide a full range of pest control and termite services in Heathcote, including:

The most efficient way to minimise the number of pests that come indoors is to have a general pest treatment once a year. During this treatment, one of our skilled technicians will apply suitable products in and around the building to keep the pests at bay. Customers will often call us asking for their house to be ‘sprayed for spiders’, which is another name for this general pest treatment. It’s not just spiders though – cockroaches, ants and other crawling pests are all kept outdoors where they belong.

For termites, a different approach is needed because the termites that attack homes are typically subterranean, spending most of their time beneath the soil. A preventative and monitoring strategy is needed to keep them out. Having a professional termite inspection once a year is a key part of this monitoring strategy. Customers will often combine their annual termite inspection with a general pest treatment, giving two services in one visit (which leads to some cost saving, too).

At Go Pest we also look after local businesses and larger commercial properties to keep them free from pests. We know that businesses such as food handling establishments, schools and hotels all have unique requirements, so we tailor our servicing programs to meet the needs of each individual business, whether large or small. We pride ourselves on providing clear, comprehensive documentation to ensure all regulatory standards are met and businesses are fully compliant with their health and safety obligations.

What our customers think...

Termite Inspections, Termite Treatments and Termite Protection in Heathcote

Termites are different from other common household insects as they live in social groups and establish an intricate network of tunnels spreading out from their nest. They are continually foraging for new sources of food (timber), often tens of metres from their nest. This constant search for food means people’s homes are continually at risk of termite infestation.

It is recommended that every home in Australia is subject to a termite inspection at least once a year. Termites are incredibly difficult to spot and they leave just a few telltale signs that can easily be mistaken for something else. For example, flaking paintwork or an ill-fitting door are two common indicators of termite activity in a home. During a professional termite inspection, one of our professional inspectors will carefully assess the property, checking for small signs that termites may have gained entry. A full written report is provided. If termite activity is found, the various termite treatment options can be discussed.

Having a termite protection system installed is the best way to protect any home against termite entry. The two most common types are soil treatments and baiting systems. With soil treatments, the soil around the property is treated with a professional grade termiticide. Baiting systems require bait stations to be placed at regular intervals around the perimeter of the property, which can be intercepted by foraging termites. The right choice of system depends on many factors, including the type of property, its age and topography. If you’re thinking of taking the next step to protect your home from termites, we are very happy to discuss the options available for your particular situation – just give us a call.

Key Pests in Heathcote

Because of the amount of damage they can cause to a property if left undetected, termites should always be considered the top pest in the area. Every property in Heathcote is at risk of termite attack.

Cockroaches appear during the warmer months and can present a health threat if populations get out of control. Spiders and ants are a typical summer nuisance, with spiders becoming particularly active after long dry spells (when they search for water sources) or after rainy spells (when they head indoors seeking shelter).

Rodents are the key pest during the cooler months, when they nest indoors in a warm cosy spot, usually close to a food source. Anyone who’s ever experienced a rodent problem will know how difficult they are to get rid of! At Go Pest we have a range of rodent control solutions and use professional grade products to deal with rodent problems swiftly and safely. It’s always best to contact us at the first sign of mice or rats so we can get the issue under control quickly.

About Heathcote

The small town of Heathcote is home to just a few thousand people but has an interesting past. Traditionally the land of the Nira-Balluk people, the first Europeans arrived in 1836, using the land to graze sheep and cattle. In 1852 the discovery of gold at McIvor Creek sent a rush of gold prospectors to the township, with the population of 400 people quickly becoming 40,000.

Hydraulic sluicing in the early days of the gold rush revealed fine pink clay in the hills near the town. These can be seen at the Pink Cliffs Reserve, where visitors can walk through the pink-toned gorges and cliffs (pictured above).

As well as being rich in alluvial gold, the soil around Heathcote is ideal for growing grapes. Together with the elevation and climate, it produces outstanding fruit, with Heathcote being known for its excellent shiraz. The town is home to over 70 vineyards, with some having been established using cuttings of heritage vines dating back to 1891.

To the north west, Lake Eppalock offers opportunities for boating and water recreation, making it a popular spot with families. Being 40km south of Bendigo, Heathcote is an easy weekend getaway.
