For homeowners in North Bendigo, having an annual pest treatment (known as a “spider spray”) will keep most of the usual pests such as cockroaches, spiders and ants outdoors where they belong.

The first step towards keeping a home free from termites is to have the property inspected for termite activity at least once a year. This can be carried out at the same time as an annual pest treatment, which is a popular option with many of our customers.

Termite Inspections, Termite Treatments and Termite Protection in North Bendigo

With Bendigo Creek to the east providing a continuous water source, North Bendigo is an ideal spot for termites to thrive. Termites are the number one risk factor for homeowners, so taking steps to protect a property is a smart move that will likely save thousands of dollars in the long run!

To protect a home from termites, the first step is to install a termite management system. A few different options are available; choosing the right one is determined by a number of factors, such as the age of the property, its location and construction type. The second step is to have the property checked for termite activity every year. At the same time, the termite inspector will note any potential issues and will check that the termite management system is in working order.

It is important to note that having a termite protection system in place is a requirement for those who are renovating or building a new home.

Key Pests in North Bendigo

Termites and spiders are the main pests that concern homeowners in North Bendigo. Termites pose a significant risk to the structural timbers of a home and can do some serious damage. Spiders not only give people a fright but can be dangerous for children and pets, too. Having the home treated once a year is an easy way to keep spiders out (as well as other crawling pests).

European wasps are a pain in more ways that one! As an invasive species, it is easy for wasp populations to get out of control easily – so it’s best to call the professionals in if you suspect a wasp nest might be on your property. At Go Pest, we use professional grade products and have many years of experience in removing wasp (and bee) nests quickly and safely.

As the weather cools down, rats and mice can often find a snug place to live indoors, inside people’s homes. Getting them out is no easy task, but our technicians are experts in rodent control. Having a deep understanding of rodent behaviour means we can get a rodent problem under control quickly and, more importantly, prevent them from returning.

About North Bendigo

North Bendigo is a small suburb that lies 2.4 kilometres north of the Bendigo CBD. Originally the land of the Dja Dja Warrung people, European settlers arrived in the 19th century and the area became a hotspot for mining, particularly along Iron Bark Gully.

Emu Point was the name given to the area that was home to a community of Chinese miners. The bright red Bendigo Joss House Temple (pictured above) was built to serve the large Chinese population on the goldfield. Opened in 1871, the temple was used as a place of worship until the 1930s. It remains an important part of the area’s history and is now a heritage listed building.
