Go Pest provide professional termite inspections in Bendigo and across central Victoria. With our highly trained inspectors and latest termite detection technology, you can be sure you are getting a comprehensive inspection giving you that important peace of mind.
With the chances of termites attacking your home more likely than fire, flood and natural disaster combined, it’s wise to get a regular termite inspection. Australian Standards recommend you should have a termite inspection at least once a year and more often in areas of high termite pressure. Not only do the inspections check to see whether termites are attacking your property or are present in your yard, but they also identify issues around the property that need to be remedied to make it less attractive to termites. As we look for leaks, drainage issues and other problems that could lead to a termite attack, it really is a ‘health check’ for your home.
THINGS YOU CAN DO BEFORE WE INSPECT:
To get the best possible inspection, we need to access all rooms, roof void and sub-floor. We are not actually allowed to move furniture or stored goods, so if we cannot access an area, we cannot inspect it. So to make sure we don’t miss any termite activity, please make sure we have access to all areas before we arrive.
DURING THE INSPECTION:
A complete termite inspection generally takes around 2 hours, depending on the size of your property and construction type. The more rooms and more land to inspect obviously takes more time and if you have a big sub-floor or roof void it can take some time to inspect every timber. It’s important to take time to carry out a professional inspection, so be cautious of any inspector that takes less than 1.5 hours to inspect an average property.
AFTER THE INSPECTION
We will provide a comprehensive written report and discuss any issues with you. If there are conditions around your home or construction issues which may make a termite attack more likely (such as drainage issues or leaks), these will be highlighted and we strongly recommend that these should be remedied.
If your home does have active termites we will discuss treatment options with you and provide you with a written termite treatment proposal. The treatment will have 2 stages, the first stage is to get rid of active termites from the building and the second stage is to install a termite protection system to help prevent future attack.
Even if your home doesn’t have active termites, if your home doesn’t have a termite protection system in place, we will still provide you with a treatment proposal to install a protection system, as this is the recommended best practice for protecting buildings.
Australian Standards, Building Authorities and Governments all recommend that residential buildings should have a termite inspection every 12 months. In areas of high termite pressure, inspections every 6 months may be necessary.
Even if you have a termite protection system in place, annual termite inspections are still required to make sure the system is still in working order, thus maintaining any warranty.
Although annual termite inspections are a must, it’s useful for homeowners to know the main signs of termites in case a problem appears in between termite inspections.
Apart from seeing live termites and actual damage, the two obvious signs of termite activity:
Termite mud shelter tubes on tree
Flying termite

If you think you have termites, don’t disturb them by breaking open any mud tubes or damaged areas. This will frighten them from the area making it more difficult to achieve control.
Don’t spray them with insecticide either. This will kill the termites in the immediate area and prevent others coming back into the treated area, but it won’t kill the nest and so more termites will be available to attack another (yet unseen) part of your home!
If you know or think you have termites the best option is to stay calm and give Go Pest a call and we’ll be around to investigate.
